Australia’s Hellyers Road Releases Double Oaked Single Malt
The latest release from Hellyers Road Distillery merges the hallmark flavors of the distillery’s flagship American Oak profile (ex-bourbon) with French Oak (ex-Port) to deliver a unique addition to the range.
The marrying of a special, triple distilled spirit, aged 12 years in American Oak, with a port matured single malt conjures a beautifully smooth single malt whisky bottled at 48.9% ABV.
Previous port matured releases from Hellyers Road have been subscribed to quickly and Master Distiller, Mark Littler expects this unique Tasmanian whisky to be similarly well supported.
“This is a really lovely whisky that despite being released as a non-aged whisky, shows significant signs of maturity on the palate courtesy of the 12 year age of the American Oak component. It is delightfully smooth with a rich molasses colour, has elements of the citrus and vanilla tones that are characteristic of our core range Original profile but with some lovely peachy and winter fruit elements presenting courtesy of the port influence. I’m really proud of this whisky and believe it will be a very popular addition to the Hellyers Road core range offerings” Mark said.
Twin Oak comes in a 700mL bottle and is available online for $120.45
