Booker’s Latest Goes To … Massachusetts?

For the second 2020 batch of Booker’s, the classic, cask strength expression from Jim Beam, the folks at the company have gone to an unusual place for naming inspiration. Or did they?

The new batch is named “Boston Batch,” and I’ve already met some enthusiasts who jumped to the conclusion it must be drawing on some folksy tale of Booker Noe traveling to Boston. That even makes some sense, because he was a well-traveled fellow, but that isn’t the case. Instead, it’s nodding at the little-known fact that the second and larger of the two Beam distilleries isn’t in Clermont, but instead receives mail at the tiny hamlet of Boston, Kentucky.

The new batch is a fairly young one, even by modern Booker’s standards, coming in at 6 years and 3 months. It’s 126.5 proof, and now retailing for $89.99.
