Bruichladdich Opens Year With New, Very Local Whisky

Bruichladdich has announced they will kick off 2024 with a new single malt, Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2014, set for release in February. This release will also kick off the distillery’s new Barley Exploration Series.

Since the Islay distillery Bruichladdich was revived in 2001, the distillery has focused much of their new production on the idiosyncratic style of unpeated, grain-forward whiskies. The barley used in making the Islay Barley 2014 single malt was, as the name indicates, grown on the island of Islay. All of it comes from within an 11 mile radius of the distillery itself. It was distilled in 2014, so depending on exactly when it was distilled and then bottled, it could be a nine or ten year old.  The grain underscores that Islay has more to it than peat, whisky and scenery. Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2014 will available to buy starting Feb 1st at $82.99.
