Jos. A. Magnus Brings Back Private Cask Program

First introduced in 2016 and paused since 2019, the Jos. A. Magnus Private Cask Program allows participants to select their own barrel onsite at the distillery in Holland, Michigan, with a limited number of virtual selections available. Each purchase includes the original Seguin Moreau barrel, adding a tangible piece of bourbon-making history to the ownership experience. The 10 year old bourbon that was put in that Seguin Moreau cask has a 60% corn, 36% rye, 4% malted barley mash bill and an anticipated strength range of 105 to 110 proof.

“Resurrecting the Private Cask Program has been a passion project for our entire team,” said Ali Anderson, CEO of CraftCo., the company behind Jos. A. Magnus. “For years, our most loyal fans have asked when they could once again secure a Magnus barrel of their own. We waited until we had something truly extraordinary — a 10-year-old high-rye bourbon aged in these exceptional Seguin Moreau barrels — to bring this program back the way it deserves to be.”

The Seguin Moreau barrels are known for their meticulous seasoning and medium-plus convection toast, enhancing the bourbon’s mid-palate density while revealing layers of baking spice, dark vanilla bean, toasted nuts, refined tannins, dried fruit, and cocoa.

“Every cask in this release tells its own story,” said William Fabry, Head Blender at Jos. A. Magnus. “The Seguin Moreau cooperage elevates this bourbon into something exceptionally layered— structured yet nuanced. For me, the magic happens during the selection process — when you’re thieving straight from the barrel in our cellar program it’s an experience that connects you directly to the whiskey in a way a bottle off the shelf never could.”

The Jos. A. Magnus Private Cask Program offers a rare opportunity to acquire a decade-old, cask-strength bourbon aged in Seguin Moreau barrels, accompanied by the original barrel itself. Bottles from each private barrel have a suggested retail price of $124.99.
