WhistlePig Releases A 30 Year Old Whiskey, Their Oldest Yet
Vermont-based non-distiller producer (NDP) and micro-distiller WhistlePig is releasing it’s oldest whiskey yet, The BigSheBang. A 30 year old single malt, the whiskey is obviously sourced, as WhistlePig was founded in 2007 and did not release its first product until 2010. The BigSheBang was finished in in Vin Santo barrels, a rare Italian dessert wine known as “holy wine,” crafted via the low-yield, labor-intensive appassimento method. Only four barrels of this ultra-aged malt existed, and each delivered a (unsurprisingly) low yield, so the bottles are consequently priced at $4,999.99.
Accompanying TheBig SheBang is the re-release of a pair of WhistlePig’s previous ultra-aged whiskeys, the Beholden 21 Year Old and Badonkadonk 25 Year Old. All three whiskeys are single barrel releases, and available for tasting at the company’s Louisville-based tasting room, the Piggybank.
