Memphis’s Blue Note Launches Wheated Bourbon
Memphis, Tennessee-based whiskey company Blue Note has launched a new small batch wheated bourbon. Sourced from a Kentucky distillery, the bourbon is made from a mash of 70% corn, 21% wheat, and 9% barley. After barreling, the whiskey is then shipped to and aged just north of downtown Memphis, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Wolf Rivers. The new expression is bottled at 101proof (50.5% ABV) and goes unfiltered.
Wheated bourbon has always offered a softer, rounder expression of the grain, and with this blend we set out to highlight that character at its most vibrant,” said Harris Smith, Assistant Production Manager, B.R. Distilling Company (owner of the Blue Note brand).
Approximately 2,800 cases of Blue Note Small Batch Wheated Blend are now available, at a price of about $45 a bottle.
