Heaven Hill Releases A Two Mash-Bill, Bonded Bourbon
Heaven Hill has stepped into new territory by releasing a bottled in bond bourbon drawing on not one, but two of its mash bills. It is easy to imagine many a croaker will greet this news with outrage in this easily outraged age, but such a bourbon would not violate the terms of the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897. Said law requires all bourbon in a given batch to come from one distillery and from a single distilling “season,” but says nothing about other variables such as different mash bills, barrel sizes, yeasts, etc. There have been some questionable uses of the Bottled in Bond designation during the 21st Century, but this is not one of them.
Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond Double Mash unites two-thirds traditional Bourbon mashbill (78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley) with one-third Wheated Bourbon mashbill (68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley), both aged for nine years and bottled at 100 proof in accordance with the strict standards established by the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. The result is a layered, balanced Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that showcases the richness and structure of traditional Bourbon alongside the softer, rounded character imparted by wheat.
“At Heaven Hill, innovation begins with a deep respect for tradition,” said Conor O’Driscoll, Master Distiller at Heaven Hill Distillery. “Double Mash is a reflection of our understanding of both Bourbon making and the Bottled-in-Bond standards that have defined quality American Whiskey for more than a century. By bringing together our traditional and Wheated Bourbon mashbills, we’ve created a first-of-its-kind Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that delivers a distinctly different tasting experience while remaining true to the craftsmanship and authenticity that define Heaven Hill.”
A complement to Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon, Double Mash carries a nine-year age statement, allowing additional maturation to enhance its depth and complexity while delivering a uniquely balanced flavor profile.
Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond Double Mash will be available beginning August 2026 at a suggested retail price of $49.99 in limited quantities nationwide.
