Chattanooga Whiskey Set To Release Three More Experimentals

The Chattanooga Whiskey Company is set to release a new set of whiskeys in their Experimental Series. Their first release in the series came in August 2017, with two more following last autumn. Now, on February 22nd, Batch 004, 005 and 006 will be on sale at the distillery.

Batch 004 is styled as a “Scottish style,” aged for two years in standard 53-gallon and mid-sized 25-gallon barrels, before being given a finish in barrels used to age Islay single malts. The whiskey was bottled at 102 proof.

Batch 005 drawn from the same basic stock (two year old 25- and 53-gallon barrel-aged whiskeys) and given a finish in Chattanooga’s own 1816 Straight Bourbon Barrels. They bill this as a nod to Scottish grain whisky, and it too was bottled at 102 proof.

Batch 006 takes Batch 005 and gives it a third round of maturation, this being in casks used to age Hutton & Smith’s Wee Heavy Ale casks. Those casks, in turn, came from Chattanooga Whiskey Company, making this a Jameson Caskmates like turn combined with the unusual triple maturation process. It too was bottled at 102 proof.

Chattanooga Whiskey Company makes high-malt bourbons, with a mix of malted barleys making up roughly a quarter of the mash bill behind their whiskeys. When rye or wheat is used, it too is of the malted variety.
