Garrison Brothers Releases Oldest Bourbon Yet

Garrison Brothers, the first bourbon-maker in Texas in modern times and a cult figure with bourbon enthusiasts, has realized a long held dream in releasing Laguna Madre. This new expression is the distillery’s oldest yet, drawing on two 59-gallon barrels. Given the fierce Texas climate and high Angel’s Share experienced at Garrison Brothers, the choice of a bigger cask (with a lower evaporation rate) than the 53-gallon American Standard Barrel (ASB) for an older whiskey was logical, but there is more to the cask stock here that that. These two barrels were made from French Limousin oak, which is spicier and usually reserved for wine-making.

Bottles of this bourbon became available on August 15, and retailed for $299.99.
